Esh Construction will deliver upgrade works and component replacements in over 200 properties across Tees Valley and County Durham

Esh Construction will deliver upgrade works and component replacements in over 200 properties across Tees Valley and County Durham. Thirteen Group awarded the scheme as part of a major investment programme underway across its housing stock.

The Component Replacement Programme and Omits 2021-22 is a £1.3 million contract which was procured via Prosper.

Properties will undergo a variety of internal and external improvement works, including window and door replacement, roofline repairs and new rainwater goods. Residents will benefit from full heating and boiler replacement, as well as new kitchen and bathrooms and property rewires.

Colin Ford, Construction Director at Esh Construction, said: “This latest contract award adds to a combined £6.7 million of projects Esh is currently delivering in partnership with Thirteen, and is another great win for our refurbishment team.

“As we head into the colder months, these much-needed home improvements and replacements become even more essential to ensure that residents have a safe, warm and comfortable home. We look forward to work getting underway.”

Thirteen is a landlord and housing developer which manages a stock of 34,000 properties from North Tyneside to Yorkshire, with the majority in Teesside. Thirteen’s Head of Investment Graham Morgan said: “We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Esh once again to deliver this much needed investment work, which will make a big difference to our customers’ homes.

“We know how important this work is to our customers and this demonstrates our commitment to creating great places to live.”

Rod Brasington, Chief Executive of Prosper, said: “Prosper are delighted to have supported Thirteen to procure this important contract which has been awarded to Esh, a local company, who are fully committed to the communities of the North East.”

The new project comes as Esh Construction finalises work on another Thirteen investment project, the £800,000 refurbishment of a sheltered housing scheme in Stockton.

Residents of 24 flats at Laburnum and Magnolia Court have received new kitchens, bathrooms with level access showers, doors, new heating systems, a full electrical upgrade and decoration throughout. While the onsite community centre, Ewbank Gardens, has also received a full makeover.

Teesside remains a hive of activity, particularly in the energy sector. This week Protium secured a location on Wilton Universal Group’s site in Teesside, marking the area’s largest green hydrogen project to date (click here).

Businesses in Teesside can now access all local contract opportunities in one website.

The Teesside Tenders site aims to simplify the world of applications and contracts for local businesses, directing them to all the available public sector work in the area, which for the first time has amalgamated in one place. This location-specific site is ideal for those businesses looking to secure long-term contracts.
