BON Hotels to construct new hotel in Ethiopia
South African hospitality company BON Hotels is now extending their sights to Ethiopia in the construction of a new hotel within the area
Chief Executive Officer of BON Hotels Guy Stehlik stated to Construction Review Online, “With domestic travel in Ethiopia expected to increase by 6.2% by 2024, BON Hotel Addis Ababa will certainly contribute to this growth, and assist in providing employment for a tourism sector which already accounts for over one million direct jobs.”
The hotel will be situated 10 minutes from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, with close links to the city centre, ideal for guests who are travelling for business or leisure. The hotel will open its doors in 2017.
“We have witnessed enormous growth in the leisure market, which makes our move into East Africa all the more appealing”, added Stehlik.
Although Ethiopia has the largest economy in East and Central Africa, the chain is aiming to secure new projects within Zanzibar and Tanzania, catering for both the tourist and corporate markets, providing further jobs within the tourist industry.
BON Hotel Addis Ababa will incorporate 48 spacious rooms, in addition to meeting rooms for prospective guests who are visiting on business or corporate events. All day dining is also provided in the hotels unique design.
Hotel consultancy service Yes Hospitality will be managing operations for BON Hotels in East Africa, and manage potential upgrades, restorations and procurement.
“Yes Hospitality have a very experienced team who are well respected in the industry with several awards under their belt - they are best positioned to bring the BON brand to market and along with the developers, who are forward-thinking and passionate, we can think of no-one better to entrust our brand to”, Stehlik commented.
The hotel chain is one of the fastest growing companies within Africa, with nine properties in the pipeline, securing their position within the region.
