Skanska’s innovation chief Sam Stacey has left the company to join a research group that oversees government investment into new technologies and techniques in construction.

Stacey, previously director of innovation, industrialisation and business improvement at Skanska, joins UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) as director of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund’s ‘Transforming Construction Drive’.

The fund is a £1.7bn government investment in research and development aimed at helping businesses grow and compete globally and Stacey will be tasked with overseeing collaboration between business and researchers in order to improve innovation.
