A major airport expansion in Thailand has found its main contractors.

The Airports of Thailand (AoT) have revealed that PCS Joint Venture will be the main contractors for the $332mn expansion project of the Suvarnabhumi airpot.

The joint venture, comprising of Power Line Engineering and China Construction Engineering, will build the first midfield concourse building at the site, as well as the connection to the southern tunnel.

 Key features of the Suvarnabhumi expansion include the construction of a four-storey mid-field terminal with 216,000 square metres of space, installing an automated people mover system, extending the existing, extending the existing passenger terminal from its eastern wing to provide more than 60,000 sqm of extra space.

The expansion is part of the Phase 2 development state, which is designed to raise Suvarnabhumi’s annual passenger handling capacity to 60mn passengers in 2019. The current figure stands at 45 million.
