The Crown Commercial Service, the UK government’s executive agency and trading fund, has launched the bidding process for a £1.2bn (US$1.53bn) modular framework.

The agency is aiming to produce a panel of suppliers that will deliver module buildings for the nation’s public sector.

The new framework will be divided into seven lots, with half of the lots covering hire only arrangements.

The lots include: ‘Purchase of Education related Modular Buildings’, ‘Purchase of Healthcare related Modular Buildings’, ‘Hire of Education related Modular Buildings’, ‘Hire of Healthcare related Modular Building, ‘Hire or Purchase of non-Education and non-Healthcare related Modular Buildings’, ‘Hire or Purchase of non-Education and non-Healthcare related Modular Buildings’, and Hire or Purchase of non-Education and non-Healthcare related Modular Buildings’.

The framework is set to replace the existing framework created by the Department for Education and Skills earlier this year.

The module orders are expected to be valued at up to £522mn ($666mn), with the orders to be released over the coming four years.

The appointment of panel will begin in March next year.
