HyperloopTT begins building world's first full scale hyperloop system

Hyperloop Transportation Technology (HyperloopTT) has announced that it has begun construction on the world's first full-scale hyperloop transit system, with the first phase set to be completed this year.

“Five years ago we set out to solve transportation’s most pressing problems; efficiency, comfort and speed,” said HyperloopTT CEO Dirk Ahlborn. “Today we take an important step forward to begin to achieve that goal.”

The company revealed that the first set of tubes had arrived at its research and development facility in Toulouse, France where the system will be situated.

The passenger capsule is being built at Carbures in Spain, set to be delivered to the facility in the summer.

The first phase will include a 320 metre closed system that is expected to be operational this year, with a further second phase of development stretching 1km to be completed next year.

“Hyperloop is no longer a concept, it has become a commercial industry,” said Bibop Gresta, HyperloopTT Chairman.
