Skanska has announced an agreement with Hordaland municipality to build the section of the Bergen Light Rail project from Fyllingsdalen to Bergen city centre. The Norway contract is worth $113mn and includes work on a 1.2km tunnel and station hall.

The project also includes the construction of new infrastructure surrounding the tram, deconstruction work and the production of several huge concrete foundations. 

The project has high ambitions regarding sustainability and will implement a number of actions to lower the carbon footprint including biofuels, electrical machines and the use of low-carbon concrete. The project will be certified according to CEEQUAL level Very Good. CEEQUAL is a global certifying system focusing on suitability within construction projects. 

Construction start will be in June 2019 with the project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2022.
