Skanska has signed a contract with Sound Transit to build the Lynnwood Link Extension L300 Main Package in the State of Washington, USA.

The project is located in the cities of Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood. The contract is worth $778mn, which will be included in the US order bookings for the fourth quarter 2019.

Skanska will construct about 6km (3.8 miles) of new guideway alignment from Shoreline to Lynnwood. The project will include 3.5km (2.2 miles) of aerial guideway, two elevated stations and a five-story parking garage.

Construction is underway. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be $2.9bn, of which $1.17bn will come from the Funding Grant Agreement executed by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

The Lynnwood link extension will continue along the I-5 corridor with four new stations in Lynnwood, Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace and Seattle.

With the rail link, the journey from Lynnwood to Westlake in downtown Seattle is estimated to take 28 minutes.

Passengers can travel from Shoreline South/145th to the University of Washington in 11 minutes and Mountlake Terrace to Bellevue Downtown in 48 minutes.
